Since the beginning of the band's history, that's exactly how the press release describes the band SENDESCHLUSS from Neunburg vorm Wald. Why should you change what has hit the metaphorical nail on the head for 9 years now? And so the band, consisting of Tom, Kiki and Tim, remains more than true to these words on their fourth release.
The six tracks of the new EP “Bavarian Wasted Youth” cover all genres, from melodic punk rock songs to hardcore bangers with a metal edge, which make the inclined rock fan nod their heads collectively and, above all, continue to inspire the band themselves. But this time with a difference. All texts included are written in Bavarian dialect.
Of course, dialect music, especially in Bavarian, is no longer new, as artists such as Hannes Ringlstetter, Karin Rabhansl, Claudia Koreck, Dicht & Ergreifend, Bbou, Liquid and the Spider Murphy Gang have long been successful nationally. But since the punk and hardcore sector, with a few exceptions, still has a lot of catching up to do, the Neunburg trio has fulfilled a real heartfelt wish and breathed life into “Bavarian Wasted Youth”. And what better way to convey real emotions than in the language you've spoken since childhood?
But what does this title actually mean? Literally translated, it is about the “Bavarian wasted youth”, which may seem inappropriate at first, as it is in no way about regretting any youthful sins or lamenting the meaninglessness of life as a young person in the Bavarian area. The aim is to distance oneself from the conservative values of “the old people” and to express a more tolerant worldview and an alternative lifestyle, although a certain degree of “Bavarian Living” does not have to be forgone. A breath of fresh air for old practices, so to speak. So where many a regular will shed tears around the concrete pillars of their ideal world and accuse “the boys” of wasting their lives due to a lack of understanding, it becomes all the more clear that “Bavarian Wasted Youth” is translated a little more loosely but fits like a metaphorical fist on the eye.
